Translating and Interpreting for the Global Community
“Very efficient service. STI was extraordinarily helpful in assisting me to set up the project and the project follow up and management of the translation project was ideal. Thank you!”-- School Psychologist, City Public Schools
Schreiber Translations, Inc. (STI) is one of the leading providers of language services for Public Outreach and Limited English Proficient (LEP) communities throughout the United States, providing translation, interpretation, multilingual desktop publishing (DTP) and localization services in more than 120 languages to the federal government, state/county/local governments and private industry.
Language services for Public Outreach and LEP Communities cover a wide variety of subject areas, including medical/healthcare, education, law and more. As the vast majority of these types of projects involve topics unique to LEP populations in the United States, such as the U.S. education system, healthcare/insurance and local public information, it is vital that the linguists providing these services are familiar with these matters and come from these local communities themselves, so as to best be able to convey the subtleties and nuances of such concepts as the SAT or ACT exams, requirements for Medicaid or Medicare and other public health programs, etc.
STI’s professional, highly-trained Language Project Managers will work with you to determine the specific needs of a project, such as background of the target community or individual requiring services, and taking into account such key information as dialect/regional accent and reading level. The Project Manager will then match the best-qualified translator or interpreter based on the unique parameters of each assignment.
Examples of recent Public Outreach and LEP language projects include the following:
Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpreters on a daily basis for multiple county health programs throughout the Washington, D.C. Metro Area, including Spanish, French, Portuguese, Haitian-Creole, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Amharic, Tigrinya, Arabic, Farsi, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Mongolian and more;
Daily translation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) into Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Somali, Burmese and numerous other languages for multiple public school systems and Infants & Toddlers Programs;
Translation of Family Life and Sexual Health curriculum from English into Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese and Arabic for a public health department in the Pacific Northwest;
Translation of “DC Healthy Families” program and outreach materials from English into Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Amharic;
